Phoenix, SRP will partner on underground water storage.
The Phoenix City Council has approved a 10-year partnership with Salt River Project to help ensure resiliency in the Valley’s water supplies in the future during extreme drought and shortage conditions on the Colorado River… SRP’s Groundwater Savings Facility enable Arizona to maximize the use of its Colorado River entitlement and help the state reach its “safe yield” goal. Through artificial groundwater recharge, water is retained in huge, porous earthen basins and allowed to seep into the natural underground aquifer below.

Starbucks announced a commitment to design, build and operate 10,000 greener stores globally by 2025.
Starbucks Coffee Company, Seattle, announced its Starbucks Greener Stores framework and a commitment to design, build and operate 10,000 greener stores globally by 2025. The Starbucks Greener Stores framework will be built upon comprehensive performance criteria that help ensure the company’s approach to designing, building and operating its company-owned stores sets a new standard for green retail, the company says… These stores will encompass existing stores, new builds and renovations. The Starbucks Greener Stores framework will also be open-sourced to benefit the broader retail industry.

“We’re trying to become the greenest energy producing county in the state,” Kanavel said. “Right now with what we have planned and what we have in operation, we have over 3,000 acres of solar.
