Dr. Ali Fakih CEO, PHD, LEED AP, PE

Ali Fakih founded SEG based the principle “LEEDing and Developing Smart Projects.” He is committed to continuous research and contributions to LEED principles of civil engineering. Since its establishment in 2009, SEG has grown significantly, quickly expanding into all sectors of land development. SEG's success is attributed to its well-developed business plan, which blends SEG’s two highest priorities: customer relations and horizontal diversification.
Our team of experienced professionals provides innovative design solutions and quality engineering at all stages of the project. The cornerstone of sustainable development is the relationship between community, environment, and improving the lives that will be impacted by the decisions we make on every aspect of a project. Our goal is to ensure our designs resonate tomorrow and for generations to come.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

As Principal and Project Manager, Ali has successfully managed a variety of public and private projects in the western U.S. , including many hydraulic projects, public roadway projects, and land development projects in Arizona for several municipalities. He was contracted as the on-call engineer for both Maricopa County and the Arizona Department of Transportation. Ali requires value engineering at the start of all projects to ensure successful adherence to budget and timeline goals. He determines, monitors, and reviews costs, operational budgets, schedules, and staffing requirements for project teams. All SEG project specifications are reviewed for environmentally friendly products; best management practices incorporate green alternatives. Natural solutions for erosion and dust control are considered in design applications. Ali’s research includes economically feasible bio-solutions for treating storm water and grey water.

Ali has two masters degrees—Civil Engineering and Construction Management—and a PhD in Sustainability / Transportation Engineering. Ali has served as the President of the Arizona Association of Environmental Professionals, and as a Board Member on the City of Scottsdale Development Review Board. He is currently a board member of the City of Scottsdale Planning Commission, the National Association of Environmental Professionals, and the Central Arizona Society of Healthcare Engineers. In 2017, Ali was honored as one of Phoenix Business Journal’s 40 under 40 members.
