Rio Re-imagined begins to take shape…

Participants at the first-ever Arizona Forward Sustainability Summit helped establish a set of recommendations for the Rio Re-imagined project that is set to redefine metro Phoenix in the coming decades. Approximately 250 experts in disciplines ranging from architecture to engineering to hydrology contributed their expertise to get Rio Re-imagined off to the right start… The ultimate takeaway from the Statewide Sustainability Summit is that large-scale urban waterways projects have succeeded in other metro areas throughout the nation. Projects along the San Antonio River and Los Angeles River provide not only inspiration, but proof of concept that the time, energy and resources required to bring Rio Re-imagined to fruition will benefit Central Arizona.

California Limits Daily Personal Water Use to 55 Gallons.

California has always been America’s leader on environmental policy, and water is no exception. So it was hardly surprising when the state made headlines across the nation in early June with a new policy on residential water use: Californians will be limited to 55 gallons per person per day for their indoor water needs… The rule is apparently the first of its kind in the nation.

When “Green” Turns to Gold, Incentives can help companies improve the ROI of environmental sustainability initiatives..

Companies are setting increasingly ambitious goals in their environmental efforts. It is a shift driven by investor and stakeholder demands for environmental sustainability and social responsibility, as well as governmental regulations and environmental taxes. Conventional wisdom has been that environmental efforts increase the cost of doing business. In reality, the sources of funding are increasing, along with diverse types of financial incentives, giving organizations worldwide opportunities to offset the cost and increase the ROI of sustainability strategies.

Arizona buildings celebrated for sustainability…

Seven projects have been recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Arizona for outstanding innovation in green building… The winning projects were selected from a group of Arizona buildings submitted across several categories, which included new construction projects, existing buildings, schools, innovative design, residential, and healthcare projects. Among this year’s winners is the University of Arizona’s Environmental and Natural Resources (ENR2) Building, Phase 2, which was named Green Building of the Year, as well as the recipient of the People’s Choice Awards… Scottsdale’s Museum of the West received this year’s Green Building Legacy Award.

Wellness Real Estate Has Blossomed into a $134 Billion Industry Worldwide – And It’s Growing Fast

Homes designed for wellness usually start with energy-efficient and sustainable construction. Indoor components like natural lighting, air quality, acoustics, proximity to green spaces and exercise facilities, as well as non-toxic paints and finishes take it to the next level… The number of wellness-oriented properties (including residential, mixed-use and commercial) has grown 6.4% annually since 2015 and is expected to continue growing at that pace through 2022, to reach $180 billion-half the size of the global “green” building industry, according to the report, which was released in January.

Sustainability Engineering Group Ranked 4th

Ranking Arizona, the Best of Arizona Business has honored SEG with it’s debut ranking in the TOP 5. It is truly an honor to be named one of the TOP Civil Engineering Businesses in Arizona for 2018. “John Quincy Adams once said, ‘If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader,'” said AZ Big Media Publisher Cheryl Green. “We are recognizing organizations that are doing just that by driving innovation, carrying out visions and producing success in a way that stands out from the competition. All the finalists… are innovators who excel, who are passionate about making Arizona a better place to do business, a better place to live, a better place to play and, most importantly, who help create a better place to stay,” Green said.
